Venice sketchbook2/29/2024 In a box, left to her by her aunt, Caroline finds a sketchbook and three keys. Much later, in 2001, on her deathbed, Juliet utters the word Venice to her great niece, Caroline. ![]() Leo's path in life has been set since he was young, so there can never be a permanent relationship between Juliet and Leo but they will always be connected because of their actions in 1939. Each time, she meets and spends time with wealthy nobleman Leonardo Da Rossi. Englishwoman Juliet Browning visits Venice with her aunt in 1928 and then she visits again in 19. The descriptions of Venice in both the 1928- timelines are beautiful. Sketchbook by Rhys Bowen | Goodreads The Venetian Sketchbook by Rhys Bowen | Goodreads Leo, frankly, is a bit of a shit in my opinion. The 21st-century MC was pretty much Juliet Mark II, and the love interests were your standard Italian hunk x 2, all testosterone and la famiglia. She just doesn't seem to care, so I didn't care about her even though she really went through a lot. There's also a big problem for me with the main 20th-century character, Juliet. Your mileage may vary, especially if you’ve not experienced the same kind of WW2 historical fiction fatigue or you’ve not read much about that period in Italy as opposed to the more usual settings of France or Britain. I liked Caroline a lot, I ended up seeing Julietta as both heroic and incredibly naïve at the same time, and I wanted the 21st century story more than I did the historic one. So this is a story I’m kind of on that painful fence about. Tiefgründig, spannend und hoch emotional.i didnt care about caroline at all and im sorry girl idc if youre second or third cousins.maybe itd be one thing if something had already happened between them before she knew but EVERYTHING HAPPENED AFTER SHE KNEW THEY WERE RELATED. ![]() Ich habe das Buch in einem Rutsch gelesen so gefangen war ich von der Geschichte. This is also not the only book this year to be set in World War II Italy, the other being Our Darkest Night by Jennifer Robson, which is somewhere in my virtually towering TBR pile. To the point where I have three books in a row that are set during the same period, Friday’s The Consequences of Fear, this book today, and tomorrow’s The Last Bookshop in London. BOOK REVIEW: THE VENICE SKETCHBOOK | Military Press BOOK REVIEW: THE VENICE SKETCHBOOK | Military PressĮscape Rating B-: World War II is a rich period for historical fiction of all types and stripes. One more time she has proven to me that historical fiction is a great genre and that she is amazing British/American writer. (Damning evidence we're not perhaps evolving as a race!) I can say with 100%, no with 1000% certainty that I am in love with this book, with every word that I have just read and with author's style! It was my second and I am absolutely sure not the last book by Rhys Bowen that I have read, I would like to discover more books by her. I've got no qualms about giving this one star because it's got a higher average rating than Hamlet, War and Peace and Pride and Prejudice. Perhaps we're searching for something more that catapults us into a different dimension.far from the pain of the past and far from the shadows of today. Perhaps there is a certain weariness nowadays during these times that have suppressed our mobility and put a damper on our usual desire and zest for life. The Venice Sketchbook is still a fine offering from the highly talented Rhys Bowen. World War II stories have almost taken over most readers' reading lists as of late. The Venice Sketchbook seemed formulaic to me with a predictable plot and characters that we have run into time and time again. ![]() What I will say is:I am an avid fan of Rhys Bowen and have read tons of her books. The book description is sufficient so I don’t have to repeat the entire story line here. The Venice Sketchbook by Rhys Bowen | Goodreads The Venice Sketchbook by Rhys Bowen | Goodreads She feels powerless until Luca gives her new belief in herself. was Josh’s manipulation of her-that her son’s shrink said it would be traumatizing for him to fly and the fact that he was now rich and powerful so if it came to a court case she couldn’t possibly win. There are never ending passages that read like a travelogue of Venice which may be of interest to someone who has been to Venice.
